Submission Guidelines
Authors preparing manuscripts to be submitted for review and publication in Quest must adhere to the guidelines published in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed., 2001). Copies are available in most academic libraries (inquire at the reference desk) and can be purchased in most bookstores.
Manuscripts should not ordinarily exceed 25 pages in length. All articles must be preceded by an abstract of no more than 150 words. Reference citations in the text must match those in the reference list and must be accurate as to dates of publication and spelling of author names. Footnotes must be kept to a minimum, both in number and length; they should not exceed 5 or 6 lines each. Authors also are encouraged to refer to past issues of the journal for specific examples of the style to be used for citations and references, as well as for various types of articles. Manuscripts must be carefully proofread before submission. Authors of manuscripts accepted for publication must transfer copyright to the National Association for Kinesiology and Physical Education in Higher Education.

Preparation of figures and tables: In figures, use black and white only, no shading or color. Keep labels proportionate with the size of the figure on the journal page, which is 4.5 in. wide by 7.5 in. high. Resolution of digital images should be 300 dpi at full size for photos and 600 dpi for line art; color images cannot be accepted. Format tables using the “Table” function of your word processing program rather than aligning columns in text with tabs and spaces or using text boxes.
Submitted manuscripts should be original works not previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal. A blind review process is used to evaluate manuscripts; all manuscripts are read by two members of the Quest Editorial Board. The review process typically takes from 4 to 6 weeks. There are no page charges to contributors. Articles are to be submitted electronically via Manuscript Central at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/hk_quest. First-time authors will create an account by following the directions on the Manuscript Central page. Authors will be asked to submit a "blinded" version of their article and a separate cover sheet with names, institutional affiliations, and full contact information for each author. No print manuscripts or e-mail attachments can be accepted.
